The Wooden Shoe has a strange sign-in ritual. When you arrive, you have to go to the podium and sign yourself in, and then they will call your name for a table. If you don't figure out that you're supposed to sign yourself in, they just ignore you. They were very busy when we arrived—it must have been the Sunday after-church crowd.
The restaurant was very loud. I could hardly hear across the table—it's not just the wooden shoes, but they have wooden walls and ceilings that reverberated every sound. The menus they provided were quite beat-up.
The corned beef on the Reuben was sliced and of a pretty good quality and flavor. The Swiss cheese on the sandwich was excellent! The sauerkraut was also good. I was disappointed that there was no dressing on the sandwich. A side of Thousand Island would have lifted this Reuben's flavor to excellent.
The homemade chips that they provided were also good, and were salt-free.
